The Jewish candelabrum: elements of history :

The Emblem of the State of Israel since 1948, the Jewish candelabrum is an object of Jewish worship, from a millennial tradition. Its story is worthy of a legend.

The plant Sage of Israel, the Moriah, inspired its particular form. Menorah means “flame”, it is “God’s presence” which illuminates the Temple.

There are no precise meanings of the seven flames, some see God’s eyes, others the burning bush of the Bible. The Menorah “Menorah” means candelabra or candelabrum, which includes 7 branches. The word menorah comes from the Hebrew “mé” indicating the origin of a thing and “Norah” which means “flame”, thus “menorah” “that comes from the flame”, which is the presence of God, according to these people.
